Carpenter Ants typically nest and damage wood structures that are moist, damp, rotting, or weakened by decay. Carpenter Ants often have multiple satellite colonies per one master (parent) colony. Typically, master (parent) colonies contain up to 3,000 Carpenter Ants.
Carpenter Ants can often be found in hollow, wood decaying areas such as: windows, chimneys, sinks, doors, and wall voids. While they aren’t feeding on the wood decaying wood, they are nesting and gnawing out the foundational structure of your home. Carpenter Ants typically eat proteins and pet food that they scavenge throughout a home rather than wood. While Carpenter Ants are rarely visible, they can be located by – tapping and listening for a hollow sound, looking for burrow marks in wood, or identifying sawdust that may be near damp or damaged wood.
